September. The month of new starts. A new season, a new academic year; its a chance to start over. But after a summer of no school, holidays and camps, it can be hard to get back into the swing of things.
For most it can be that you've just forgotten how to write, or even hold a pen it's been that long it happens to the best of us don't worry! But for some it can be coming out of those 'camp bubbles' and returning back to normality, having forgotten what it's like to not be surrounded by christians and like minded people 24/7. Going back into the real world can leaving us feeling stranded. When we're faced with trials and temptations, how do we stay true to God?
We need to stand tall in our faith.
To have faith is to have complete trust. Trusting in God allows us to let go of what the world offers us and grab hold of what God promises.
Welcome the message.
Reading the bible can sometimes feel like a chore, doing it so you've ticked a box. But we need to welcome the message. By understanding and knowing what God promises we can find joy even in the hardest of times. It renews us, knowing the truth and holding onto that gives us the strength to endure what the enemy throws in our path.
Be a model of Christ.
Live how God wants you to live. God has given us free will, we can make our own decisions, but when we abuse that we become lost in a godless world. Turn away from idols, from the things the world offers us, things that only make us happy in the short term, and in doing so we can find a constant joy. When the Thessalonians turned away from idols to serve God, the people around them noticed.
1 Thessalonians 1v8. "The lords message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia your faith in God has become known everywhere."
People will see a difference when you chose to live for God.
The gospel has power.
1 Thessalonians 1v45. "For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the holy spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake."
We're chosen by God to share his word. Living with those who don't yet know God gives us opportunity to share our faith in such a powerful way. By taking hold of those opportunties, we not only bring other people closer to God, but we grow stronger in our own faith.
Trust in him, and stand tall!
