Wow! This month's Ignite was class!
Over 270 young people came together to worship Jesus and listen to other young people share how he has impacted their lives. We had youth groups from Macclesfield, Warrington, Telford, Sandbach, Liverpool and the Wirral - young people all over the North West are getting impacted by whats happening at Ignite each month which we think is pretty sick!
This month we had three amazing young speakers called Tom, Abbie and Joel. Each one spoke on one of the three subjects: Faith, Hope & Love from 1 Corinthians 13:13.
Tom spoke on Faith: He started by sharing his testimony, explaining how he got filled with the Holy Spirit at a summer camp two years ago and since then his whole attitude has changed. He told us that his faith has continually grown and he has started to put his faith in God and his ability to do the unseen. Tom is now part of the media team at his church and continues to develop his faith in God each day.
Abbie spoke on Hope: She began by sharing from 1 Peter 3:15 - "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give for the hope that you have". Abbie told us that we should be excited about the hope we put in Jesus Christ. Hope is a great belief in Jesus for the things he has done and is yet to do. She shared three top tips to having more hope in your life:
1) Surrender your worries to God
2) Be passionate about your hope in Jesus
3) Challenge yourself to talk to God each day
Joel shared on Love: Joel started by unpacking the background to Corinth at the time Paul wrote this letter. The Corinthians lived in a sex driven society, therefore making their views on love misunderstood. He read 1 John 4:8 - "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is Love"
He then presented us with the question - Could you die for someone you love or even die for someone you dislike? God's love went beyond that. He sent his son, to save the people who lived then, to save the people who live now and even to save those people that killed him. That is true love - Jesus died for you!
We're so thankful for the clear messages each young person brought and the impact they had on everybody who was at Ignite.
We are also really excited that the Ignite family is growing! We have Ignite Merseyside, Ignite London and this month it was annouced that Ignite Macclesfield will be starting soon.
We will be sharing details about this later in the month so remember to like us on Facebook (Ignite Youth) or follow us on Twitter (@IgniteYouthUK).
