Wow the busiest Ignite Chester I’ve ever been to! The gallery was packed with young people
chatting and having a laugh. A few kids even had a dance off! Dodging round fellow youths you got to a counter stuffed full of chocolates, sweets, fizzy drinks and the more healthy option of bottled water.
At 7:30 we all poured down the stairs and into the main venue. For me the worship is one of the
best moments at Ignite. Everyone crowds round the stage jumping and dancing to the music and
praising God at the tops of their voices. At Ignite it doesn’t matter how bad you are at singing or
what your neighbour thinks. Just go crazy for God.
It was so packed people had to go and sit above us in the gallery. My friends and I sat as close to the stage as we could to get a good view. We played a team game were two teams raced to cover a person in toilet roll then did a catwalk down the middle aisle. My team won.
Darren did a great preach on choosing to live for God. He got two people to help with an illustration: the first person chose to walk all the way down the middle aisle round and up the side aisle with a Sainsbury’s bag. The other person had to go down the middle aisle and then crawl under the row of chairs with a big backpack. When the person got half way Darren told him to take the bag off his shoulders and go without it. It looked much easier. Darren told them both to open their bags. The first person found a box of Oreo thins but when she opened the box it was empty. The second person opened his bag and found foam bricks. At the bottom there was a box of Weetabix but when he opened them there was an iTunes voucher inside.
The point of this was to show that not following Jesus may look easy but it’s an empty life whereas following Jesus can be hard but has rewards. It was good reminder to keep going for God.
All in all a great preach, amazing worship, fun games and awesome friends. Looking forward to Ignite on December 8th - remember your Christmas jumpers!
