The night kicked off with worship and praise! We then went on to play a game where we were split into two teams, 21 balloons were thrown into the crowd and in the time given the teams had to hit them across to the other teams’ half. In the end team ‘gravity’ won (again) but well done to both teams.
Pastor Aaron Partington came up to speak, and Luke had asked him to talk about a point he had preached last year. He pointed out the verse Luke 17:33 “Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.” He talked about when he was a child he would always watch the Saturday afternoon WWE, he said that in a match ‘tapping out’ was when a wrestler couldn’t take any more and they were giving in. He said that if you ‘tap out’ in life you are surrendering your life to God and saying ‘hupotasso’. Aaron said you are never too young or too old to be used by God and He will always have a purpose for you. But first you have to ‘tap out’. He told us the story of Zacchaeus and said that Zacchaeus wasn’t born a bad person and that he made choices in his life to make him the sinner he became. Zacchaeus’ name means purity and his parents must’ve named him this because when he was born that was how they saw him. Jesus saw Zacchaeus as he was named, not how he was, and He saw him as a child of God. Zacchaeus recognised the power, the promise and the purpose of Jesus, so he tapped out and promised to repay his wrongdoings and live by the Word of the Lord. Zacchaeus ‘tapped out’. The bible is full of accounts of people who have ‘tapped out’ and there is always a time and a place to ‘tap out’. This month’s IGNITE Chester was a great event, and we can’t to see you next time on 12 th May!!!
